10 things you didn’t know about the Colossal Titan

Attack on Titan has garnered a gigantic fame -never better said- as one of the most outstanding anime in history. Of course, a hole has also been opened in the video game industry, landing with multiple deliveries on Nintendo Switch. With his last season lurking in the chamber, how about we review some of the lesser-known curiosities of his colossal titan?

Of course, be very careful with possible spoilers!

The mascot of the series?

10 things you didn't know about the Colossal Titan

From its first appearance, the Colossal Titan has made its way as one of the most recognizable and iconic faces of, not only his own series, but also of the anime in general. Starting with merchandising to collaborations, this colossus has lent his image on countless occasions, cementing it as the “mascot” of the series.

mobile video games, clothingpizza… the titan is present in everything.

A curious cameo

Attack on Titan has sneaked in as a reference in many titles in recent years, including collaborations with Dead by Daylight or Dead or Alive. Nevertheless, one of his most prominent cameos is in the video game Age of Gunslingers Onlinea massively multiplayer online title that included a special mode based on the titans of the series.

The final boss is based on the Colossal Titan.and their combat takes place in a gigantic structure similar to Wall Maria itself, the same one that the Colossal Titan knocks down in his first appearance.

their different names

Depending on the publisher, this titan has received multiple names, both in Spanish and English locations. In American lands, this character is known as “Colossal Titan”, but the manga publisher Kodansha USA named him as “Colossus Titan” in the past.

In its Spanish location, there have also been conflicts between publishers. Norma Editorial came to make it known to us as «super titan«, while the publisher Panini Manga was more loyal to its original name, «colossal titan»

He has the makings of an athlete…

10 things you didn't know about the Colossal Titan

In a baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, andThe Colossal Titan made a sinister appearance at its opening ceremony… to throw the first pitch!

This curious appearance was picked up by the official anime account on Twitter, and apparently this “titan” even brought his own baseball glove in the purest shingeki style. Apparently, baseball player Kenta Maeda taught him how to make his star shot, so let’s hope he doesn’t put it to use like the Beast Titan…

soooo big…

One of its most recognizable features is, as we all know, its imposing size. This titan of flesh and blood can reach up to 60 meters in height and is endowed with incredible physical strength. Of course, to compensate, his movement is extremely reducedbeing reduced to defending his neck with heat and steam.

Of course, the transformation of this titan can cause damage similar to that of a little nuclear bomb. His power truly knows no bounds.

…But he is no longer the greatest

10 things you didn't know about the Colossal Titan

From this curiosity, we already entered weft shreds most recent, so proceed with caution.

As we have explained in the previous curiosity, the Colossal Titan is known for its immense size. However, with the plot advances of the last few seasons, the colossus has fallen short. Eren’s Founding Titan reaches heights never seen before, even surpassing Rod Reiss’s titan. Accompanied by the many titans on the walls, their sheer size makes them look like ants.

the same love

The two titan wielders we’ve met throughout the series, Armin and Bertolt, have a lot more in common than it might seem. Without even investigating their personalities, which we will deal with later, these two characters have fallen in love with the same person: Annie, the Female Titan.

In fact, this curiosity has more background than it seems: Bertolt and Annie grew up in Marley along with the other candidates to inherit the powers of the titans, a period during which he developed an attraction to Annie. Also, when Armin inherited Bertolt’s titan and her memories, he began to develop a special fondness for Annie, visiting her every day in her crystallized shield. Had Bertolt inherited his feelings for her as well?

Barking dog, little biter

As we have advanced in the previous curiosity, the bearers of the Colossal Titan have a more similar personality than it might seem. Armin and Bertolt have remarkable wit and extraordinary mental toughness, but their self-esteem and self-confidence fail them. That is why, unless the situation is critical, they tend to relegate strategy and difficult decisions to their alliesfor fear of not being up to the task.

Despite having one of the most powerful and destructive titans, both characters do not prefer to fight either, unless necessary. The use of this titan, especially against innocents, weighs heavily on the consciousness of both. Also, they tend to prefer to take the peaceful path, except when circumstances don’t allow it, which is precisely what Bertolt’s tragic character arc tells us.

How your steam works

10 things you didn't know about the Colossal Titan

Due to the slowness of his movements, this titan is forced to relegate to steam to defend his neck and unleash devastating attacks. In general, Titans tend to emit steam through their wounds, thus their bodies vanish into smoke upon undoing the transformation. Nevertheless, the Colossal Titan can use this steam at its mercyalthough it is not unlimited power: his muscle mass decreases with use.

As we could see in the series, in case this steam does not send you flying, its high temperature would singe your entire body. Ironic…

highlighted up from sand

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, Attack on Titan received a collaboration in 2016 with Dead or Alive 5 Last Round in the form of new costumes, cosmetics, and a new arena. On this occasion, we are interested in highlighting the new arena introduced, which takes place during the attack on the Wall Maria of the first episodes of the series.

In her, we can see the Colossal Titan watching us in an intimidating wayas he carries out his invasion against Paradis and slams his foot into the bottom of Wall Maria.

And with this, we would have reviewed some of the most interesting and outstanding curiosities about the Colossal Titan. The story of Attack on Titan came to an end with the manga more than a year ago, but its anime still has surprises in store for us with its last season in 2023. Which of these curiosities did you like the most? We read you in the comments!
