Astro’s Playroom it was practically the launch game of the PlayStation 5, an admittedly limited but useful experience to know the full potential of the new controller, which DualSense that it is perhaps less exploited than it deserves.
The The Asobi team however, it’s already hard at work but on something much bigger and more complete, with DualSense still at the center of it all. Interviewed by GamesIndustry, the creative director Nicolas Doucet has already given the first advice:
« We are currently developing something and it is going well, but we want to have another group for research and development and we want interesting areas to be explored in this group.« .
This refers to how the team is split into two parts, with 10% of the developers dedicated to research and development. For the DualSense Asobi has a close partnership with PlayStation Japan, so close between being among the first & boxh; otherwise the first & boxh; to test new hardware prototypes. The new pad was among them:
« We are among the first to get our hands on prototypes. Even DualSense, when we got it, looked nothing like what it is now. It was a huge controller with boards and cables sticking out. But the features, the adaptive triggers, the haptic feedback… they were there. So we lived it« .
One of the few teams to really exploit the potential of DualSense is therefore working on something important and surely more details will come later.
