Four features we expect to see on the iPhone 14 this year – Digikar

In a few weeks, Apple will announce the next iPhone 14 series. With the rumors growing, some features are pretty much confirmed on these new phones. Read on as we round up four of them that we expect to see on the iPhone 14.

Regular Max iPhone 14 is coming

It’s been a while since we’ve heard of iPhone mini sales disappointing Apple. 9to5Mac sources can confirm that we won’t see another of these phones with the Series 14.

According to our sources, the new iPhone 14 (codenamed D27 and D28) will come in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch versions, while the Pro models (codenamed D73 and D74) might be slightly taller to accommodate the new punch + pill design.

So if you are looking for a smaller phone, you will have to go for the new iPhone SE 3 and its “iconic design”, buy the iPhone 13 mini or the iPhone 12 mini.

Different designs between regular and pro models

The iPhone 14 Pro will have a new punch-hole + pill design. This will be the first time that Apple has moved from the look of the iPhone X to a new approach. That said, this new design will be exclusive to the Pro models since the regular versions will likely stick with the same notch as the iPhone 13, which is 30% smaller than that found on the iPhone 12.

Analyst Ross Young also corroborates this report saying that all models will again feature the same design in 2023. Until then, if you want the newest design, you’ll have to opt for the Pro models.

A15 Bionic to iPhone 14, A16 Bionic to iPhone 14 Pro

9to5Mac Independent sources and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple may break with tradition this year by releasing some iPhone 14 models with the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13.

The A15 chip would power the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and the 6.7-inch 14 Max, although RAM will be increased from 4GB to 6GB. The new A16 SoC would be reserved for high-end and more expensive models 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

At this time, it’s unclear whether Apple will rebrand the A15 chip for the regular 14 phones – such as the A15X – or use the more powerful version found in the iPhone 13 Pro instead.

48MP main sensor for iPhone 14 Pro, biggest front camera upgrade in years

Another important feature of the iPhone 14 Pro will be a large 48 MP sensor. First suggested by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, BloombergMark Gurman was the last to speak about this new feature.

While a 48MP might unlock new features, it’s likely that Apple will continue to shoot at 12MP, as you can read more about here. The regular iPhone 14 models will remain with a 12MP sensor in all lenses.

In June, Kuo said Phone 14 would be the most significant front-facing camera upgrade for smartphone from Apple for years. The analyst predicts that the new camera will feature autofocus, which should result in significantly better quality for capturing photos and videos compared to the current fixed-focus camera . In addition, he also expects a larger f/1.9 aperture

There are more rumors about this next phone. For example, Apple could probably add satellite communication for the 2022 iPhone. This was first rumored for all 13 models, but ultimately fell through. Other than that, all of the above features will likely be part of iPhone 14.
