Google Fiber is getting active again after years of inactivity


Now, Alphabet Dinni Jain, CEO of its subsidiary, announced Fiber’s first expansion plans in years. The company announced in July that it had set up a network in Mesa, Arizona, and now the service is in Colorado, Nebraska, It has also announced that it will expand to Nevada and Idaho.

According to Reuters, the company decided on its new locations based on its findings on where internet speeds dropped the most. These new locations will expand over the next few years. Fiber’in will be its main focus, but will continue to increase usability in cities where it already has a network.

Some Alphabet Jain was asked where Fiber would find the money for the planned expansion, as its subsidiaries had to obtain financing outside of its parent company. Jain, While refusing to talk about the company’s financial results or sources of funding, he said: “Alphabet’s intent is to build businesses that will be successful on their own, and that’s what we’re trying to do with Google Fiber.”
