Nvidia can invest in Europe for the first time

After Intel steps up in Europe with plans for two chip factories in Germany and a third enterprise in Poland, the competitor Nvidia was not far behind and through its founder promised to invest in the region – for the first time in its history.

This fatal announcement for Nvidia was made by CEO Jensen Huang after a meeting with European Commissioner Thierry Breton, who oversees issues related to the development of the internal market in the European Union.

Breton believes Nvidia needs to invest much more in Europe and that the Old Continent is a great place for the company’s future, Bloomberg noted in a report from the meeting.

Breton and Huang bumped into each other at an event on topics such as content moderation and the development of artificial intelligence systems, attended by the heads of several US technology companies. In a private conversation, Breton has invited the Nvidia manager to continue negotiations next month in Brussels.

At a press conference after the meeting with the European Commissioner, Jensen Huang said that it is very likely that the company will invest in projects in Europe. “The reason for this is Nvidia’s desire to be a global company, and it’s hard to imagine a better place to invest,” he says.

The nature of these investments has not yet been specified, but given that Nvidia itself does not manufacture its products, it is likely to be the opening of research centers in Europe or the creation of new data centers specializing in the development of artificial intelligence systems .

The American company is a major player in the hardware market for supercomputers and cloud computing. Its products have become even more relevant and in demand with the boom in the development of artificial intelligence.
