Researchers have found out which people most often skip work

Alcohol drinkers may miss work because of a hangover. Teetotalers, as it turned out, miss work days no less than adherents of alcohol. This conclusion was reached by the Finnish representatives of science.

To obtain information, an experiment was conducted with the participation of 47,000 employed Europeans and Americans. The experts found out how much they drink alcoholic beverages, as well as the frequency of time off. Statistics were taken for 4-7 years.

Volunteers were divided into 5 groups, depending on how much alcohol they drink – from teetotalers to people with alcohol addiction. There was also a category of people who drink alcohol in moderation. This category included women who drank between 1 and 11 units of alcohol per week, as well as men who drank between 1 and 34 units of alcohol per week.

One unit is equal to 8 grams of alcohol. For example, one glass of wine contains about 2 units, and beer – 1.7 units.

As a result of information processing, it turned out that drinkers often take time off from work. It also unexpectedly turned out that teetotalers are not inferior to them in the number of days off.

Reasons for quitting teetotalers turned out to be quite curious: psychological problems, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, problems with digestion, as well as the respiratory system.

People who are addicted to alcohol took time off, as expected, due to hangovers or injuries associated with drinking alcoholic beverages.

Abstainers were also found to be 58% more likely to suffer from mental illness and take 1.5 times more time off than moderate drinkers.

The study once again proves that moderation is important, including in the use of alcoholic beverages.

You also need to remember that because of a hangover, work productivity is reduced, and hence the ability to move up the career ladder. And about the harm to health that causes alcohol, it has been said more than once.

Therefore, if you are focused on a successful career and well-being, give up bad habits in favor of a healthy lifestyle.
