The common charging port for mobile devices will be USB-C!

smartphones coming soon in india, tablets and for mobile devices such as some other consumer electronics products. The country aims to have a single common charging standard for these devices. It seems that India is adopting a similar policy to the European Union.

According to the News18 report, the government has apparently called for a meeting for all industry stakeholders to be held on August 17. According to the PTI report, the government is aiming for a discussion to remove the use of different chargers. The main purpose behind this is to both reduce the burden on consumers and prevent unnecessary electronic waste. This move by the Indian government will be in line with the standards adopted by the European Union.

CHARGER

The EU is pushing tech-based brands to adopt a universal charging port standard with USB Type C. This rule will come into effect in the region by 2024 and it appears that India plans to adopt a similar mandate. According to the government official who spoke to PTI, “If companies can provide services in Europe and the US, why not in India? Portable electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets should have a common charger.” expressions were used.

Currently, major smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus and more have adopted the USB Type C port some time ago. However, Apple is the only smartphone brand that has not yet adopted this standard as it continues to ship its products with its proprietary Lightning Port for the iPhone.
