The maximum amount of Hearts in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not what you think: details and guide

We bring you a new and interesting guide for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This focuses on the heart containers.

Guide to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In the game, these containers indicate the maximum life that Link can have. There are different ways to get heart containers, and here we bring you information about it.

The truth is the numbers inside the title can be somewhat confusing, but we are going to try to be clear with the compilation that you have below. The details to take into account are these:

  • In this The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide, we can confirm that players can get a maximum of 40 hearts and 3 full wheels of stamina for Link but it is not possible to get both at the same time.
  • However, to this day, you can only get 38 heart containers without sacrificing some stamina on the forbidden horned statue under Watch Fort. You have our guide on how to change resistance for hearts and vice versa here.
  • In the game’s intro, Link only has 30 hearts as a reference to Breath of the Wild’s original maximum, but a total of 40 can be had by sacrificing half a stamina wheel in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
  • In order to reach 40 heart containers, players should consider the following sources of heart drops:
    • 152 shrines in the game, which is equivalent to 38 stamina or health upgrades.
    • 5 bosses in temples and the boss in Hyrule castle i.e. 6 additional hearts.
    • The “Call of the Deep” side quest offers an additional health or stamina upgrade.
  • Each stamina ring requires 5 upgrades, and the maximum is 3 stamina wheels in total, which leaves 10 stamina dedicated upgrades confirmed by this Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide.
  • With 29 optional/shrine upgrades remaining and the 6 containers obtained as part of the story, players hit 38 hearts.
  • To get all 40 hearts, players can trade half a stamina wheel for 2 hearts on the horned statue above.
  • By doing this, players will end up with 40 hearts and 2 and a half wheels of stamina.
