They created the world’s first low-emission glass

ORAÉ glass has the lowest carbon footprint in the world

The International Environmental Declaration System (EPD) has confirmed that ORAÉ glass produced by the Saint-Gobain Glass company has the lowest carbon footprint in the world – only 6.64 kg CO2 eq./m² (for the entire life cycle of 4 mm glass) .

The achievement represents a 42% reduction compared to the European standard for float glass and is a consequence of the remarkably high amount of recycled glass and impeccable technical, quality and aesthetic characteristics.

Saint-Gobain Glass integrates ORAÉ into its portfolio of solutions that offer efficiency and sustainability by reducing both operational carbon (from cooling, heating and lighting when the building is in use) and carbon emitted during the construction of building facades.

Several major real estate companies have already chosen low-e glass to reduce the carbon footprint of their projects. Among them is the Swedish developer NCC with the Habitat 7 building in Gothenburg, which is being built in collaboration with the facade manufacturer Fasadglas.

Thanks to the detailed environmental data available, ORAÉ is now integrated into Calumen, Saint-Gobain’s universal glazing digital configuration tool. Thus, construction professionals, regardless of their level of competence, can assess the impact of ORAÉ on the carbon footprint of their architectural projects.

ORAÉ is now also available on the window market. The offer is available in Spain and France, and will soon be available in other countries, the manufacturer announced.
