The software application Total Network Inventory is a useful tool with which you can monitor all computers on the network and collect useful information about them.
The user interface is clean but not very intuitive, so you will probably need some time to get used to working with this tool. You can take advantage of the available wizard to select the network PC you want to check, do a complete network inventory with PC Total Network Inventory or configure special parameters directly from the main panel.
The step-by-step approach is definitely the easiest as it offers assistance to the user throughout the process. You can choose between two scanning options – “Immediate Online Scan” and “Logon Script Scan”. The former will allow you to scan only computers that are currently online, while the latter scans the computer every time users log into the domain.
At the end of the scan task, you can select the workstations from which you need to extract information. What’s more, the application automatically extracts data and displays it in the main panel.
Total Network Inventory provides comprehensive information about the system (parameters, motherboard, memory slots), CPU (manufacturer, clock frequency), system memory (physical and virtual memory), video system (video adapters, monitors), storage details (hard disks and removable media), the network, peripherals (printers, keyboards), other devices and software details (OS, system, updates).
Last but not least, you can search the entire database and create custom reports by including only relevant information.
With all these things in mind, Total Network Inventory is a practical and useful tool for gathering information about all the computers on the network.
